Welcome to Solutions Surfer!

What are we about? We are a social networking site dedicated to providing University students with the platform and tools to share their knowledge. With the social learning platform we've created, we hope students can get the most information they can to do their best in their classes!

This site is completely user-generated and user-driven. We will not ever charge registered users for access or use of this site - everything is 100% FREE - and we will work very hard to ensure that it stays this way!

What we believe: Educational information should be FREE and knowledge should be shared! This site is built on the principal that all learning is inherently social - that we all learn from one another by sharing, creating and discussing all sorts of things every day and on every level. With this in mind, this site has built-in key features for social learners to network, find each other and share their knowledge and notes/study materials.

Studying online provides the convenience of constant availablity - because, let's face it, if you’re like many other students, homework/study questions do not always come up when Prof & TA office hours are available. Group studying, or collaborative learning, is sharing your knowledge and it's been shown that when you teach others what you know, you gain a deeper understanding of a topic.

What can you do on this site? Here's some of the features:

Connect with other students - from your class or anywhere - and invite your friends to join too. The more you add/invite, the more knowledge and resources the community can offer!
Subscribe to groups ("Classes") based on your course names (or create your own group dedicated to your specific class!)
Use discussion threads to collaborate on homework solutions or get a better understanding of course core concepts
Share your class notes & study materials or download post’s from fellow classmates
Form online study sessions with your friends/classmates with online chat features
Organize your schedule with an online personal task manager

By the way, groups also have file repositories. These are great for providing students with the tool to share material to study. Just imagine, sharing your notes/homeworks to help other people learn and then finding material that someone else posted to help you learn - Collaborative learning! You'll have plenty of study material to use when cramming for a test or trying to find the study-examples for those hard to solve homework problems. The point is, the more you share and collaborate, the more others share and collaborate, the more you learn and the better you do. It's a Karma system at it's finest!

So there are a few other features that are pretty handy for collaborative learning. There's chat features, which can provide you with a good resource for interacting with your friends/classmates online - you can invite several people at one time for a chat-study session. Having the ability to chat w/ friends/classmates is particularly handy when it's the middle of the night and you don't think your TA or Prof is going to answer an email you sent before your homework is due first thing in the morning! Chat is also pretty handy for distance learning students who don't really have a face-to-face way of interacting with other students in the class. You can chat with one classmate, or you can link several classmates and start an online study-session. Just imagine how much you can get done when you're studying at home with your friends online!

This site has a few other tools that are rather handy to have in one spot. There is an online task-manager that helps you organize your course-work/due-dates and manage your time effectively. There is also an in-page Google search so you can quickly look up information without having to leave the site. How handy!
